Data to Build Your Community

Queer Women of Color Media Arts Project (QWOCMAP)

QWOCMAP, based in San Francisco, empowers queer women of color to tell and share their unique stories through film.

Representing a broad range of perspectives is core to QWOCMAP's mission, and they use demographic data to strengthen their inclusivity. They reached deeper into their existing community to welcome queer Native American women through targeted film workshops, and eventually hosted a themed film festival which featured many of the workshop participants. As they continue to expand their relationships with the Two-Spirit communities, ongoing data collection has helped them to quantify their outreach success, understand how to best serve the specific needs of the community, and communicate the value of their work to stakeholders.
