Akanksha Samindla holds a master’s degree in Data Science from the University of Houston and has experience working as a data engineer and analytics engineer across research and industry. She joined SMU DataArts as a Data Engineer in January 2026. Her background includes building data pipelines, dashboards, and analytics solutions to support data-driven research. She has worked with tools and platforms such as SQL, Python, cloud services, and business intelligence technologies.

She is also a co-author of a research study titled “Do Roads Create Crime Boundaries? Modeling Crime Rate Disparities Across Adjacent Communities,” focusing on spatial analysis and crime data modeling.
