CDP data used to build Cuyahoga Arts & Culture report on public investment in sector

April 1, 2011

Cuyahoga Arts & CultureDue to a county tax that provides a dedicated source of funding for arts and cultural nonprofits, Cuyahoga Arts & Culture in Cuyahoga County, Ohio has become the largest public funder of the arts and cultural sector in the state, and among the top five in the nation. CAC has used data from the Ohio Cultural Data Project to build a report on public funding in the sector in Ohio, and demonstrates that, despite national financial turmoil in recent years, CAC has been able to expand its cultural offerings by 25% since the funding first became available. Such a precise and compelling analysis would not have been possible without the wealth of data provided to the Ohio CDP by the CAC’s funding applicants. Where communities have wisely invested in their arts and cultural sector, CDP data proves that the investment has paid off by expanding arts programs, arts education, and economic growth.
